ACCOUNTING MANAGER                            

Full Time* 
The Cibolo Nature Center’s mission is conservation of natural resources through education and stewardship. We provide programming for children, youth, adults and families while protecting vanishing natural areas.
                                                                                                   
Job Description
This position serves as the manager of the CNC accounting and financial records and tracks all financial activities of the CNC.  The Accounting Manager works closely with the Executive Director and the Development Director on all duties. This position meets monthly with the CNC finance committee. The Accounting Manger must be proficient in using QuickBooks, Data Base Management programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

 *40 hours per week with occasional weekend requirements for large events.

Skills Needed
Position requires 5 years experience in non-profit accounting.   Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must possess strong time management and detail-orientation skills. Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.  Good organizational and interpersonal skills.  Must demonstrate excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks for Non-Profits.
 
Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
 
Duties:
Event support
  • Financial oversight of events
  • Financial preparation for events
  • Keep and organize CNC financial files and records
  • Financial oversight of operational income and expenses
 Team Support
  • Collaborate with department Directors to maintain grant budgets and assist in identifying spending needs or shortfalls.
  • Track progress of all grants and ensure timely reporting to all funding sources
  • Review grant awards and clearly communicate grant requirements to program staff to produce accurate, complete reports
Organizational Support
  • Develop and oversee the development of procedures to implement CNC policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Director of Operations, Executive Director and Board as appropriate.
  • Organize and update all legal documents and insurance needs for the property, Board of Trustees, Summer Camp, Farm & contracts, etc.
  • City lease agreement & Annual City Report
  • Coordinate and prepare annual budget to be approved by Finance Committee and Board.
 Bookkeeping
  • Full-charge bookkeeping for all transactions of the nature center;
  • Ensure timely deposits of all received funds within 48 hours of receipt;
  • Timely preparation of all payroll and other disbursement checks under procedures established by board of directors.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all accounts within 10 days of month end.
  • Monthly reports within 5 days of month end to executive director, development director, finance director, and board on:
  • Balance sheet at end of prior month
  • Profit and Loss for all programs less capital campaign including comparison with budget to date at end of prior month;
  • Capital campaign profit and loss including comparison with budget to date;
  • Weekly cash position report to Executive Director and Finance Committee including a cash flow projection for the upcoming week by 3:00 PM on Mondays.
  • Manage the accounting process to assure accrual of all accounts receivable.
  • Oversee all collections activities.
  • Communication liaison for bank and investment accounts.
  • Attend all board finance committee meetings, and when required, board of directors monthly meetings.]
  • In conjunction with Executive Director and board finance director, coordinate requirements for annual independent audit each spring.
