Nature Camp 2010 Weekly Descriptions
Week 1. June 7-11 Keepers of the Creek: Campers bring your swim suits and water shoes during this week of camp as we stay cool under the shade of the Cypress Trees on the banks of Cibolo Creek. How far does the Cibolo go? Let's find out! Keep your eyes open for Greenman who can tell us why the creek is important and how to keep it clean.
Week 2. June 14-18 Rowdy Reptiles: Snakes alive! If you like snakes then you will enjoy this week of camp. Snake experts will be here to teach us about these important animals. Ever go on a snake hunt? This week of camp will be a ssssssuper good time!
Week 3. June 21-25 Nature Trackers: North, south, east and west, nature trackers are the best! Get ready for some adventure as we set off into the wilds of the CNC. Learn to use a compass! Cast animal tracks! Build a fort! Have fun while you learn and become an official CNC Nature Tracker!
Week 4. June 28-July 2 America the Beautiful-Red, White, Blue and Green!: What a great week to celebrate America - right here at the CNC! Keep your eyes open for an American Bald Eagle! This week is all about celebrating America's natural environment by learning how to keep the air, land and water healthy and safe for all living things. We will hear from experts who will help us learn easy ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Oh, and look out for the camp parade!
Week 5. July 12-16 Cibolo Native Americans: The Cibolo Creek is rich in Native American history and there is no better way to learn it than to live it. Come for tee-pees, war paint and pow-wows! Hear from an expert as he teaches us some real Native American games. You might just see a buffalo in the prairie!
Week 6. July 19-23 The Wild, Wild West: Let's go back in time to the days when pioneers were settling this area along Cibolo Creek. We will take a secret hike along the creek that will lead us to a special place where history comes alive. Learn about the people who tamed this land and get caught up in wild adventure!
Week 7. July 26-30 Water Week: We will end the camp with a big splash! Bring your swim suits and water shoes for more adventures at the Cibolo Creek. This week is all about water while we are getting wet at the creek or dodging an exploding water balloon! We will beat the heat and stay cool as we learn a few things about clouds and rain along the way. Be on the lookout for Greenman!
