  • We welcome volunteers of all kinds from individuals to large groups, including families, organizations and businesses. Whether you’re volunteering solo or with a team, The Cibolo offers short-term and ongoing opportunities for a variety of interests.

  • Put your talents, passion, and energy to use at The Cibolo! No matter the season, volunteer opportunities are available in gardening, environmental stewardship, special events, programs and more.

  • Perfect for groups of four or more looking to make an impact. Ideal for community organizations, college clubs, or youth groups, volunteers assist with special events and large-scale projects.

  • Volunteer opportunities are available for area businesses. Completely customizable, corporate volunteering at The Cibolo gets your employees outdoors, encourages team camaraderie and fosters positive well-being while creating a lasting impact in our community.

  • Get your hands in the soil while supporting our gardens. Help with seasonal tasks like mulching, weeding, planting, harvesting for the Farmers Market, and maintaining pollinator habitats at both the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm.

  • Help care for the land that makes The Cibolo special. Volunteers support trail maintenance, remove invasive species, install water controls, pick up litter, and keep pathways clear across the Cibolo Nature Center, Sisterdale Sanctuary, and The Fellows properties. Whether working independently or alongside staff and fellow volunteers, stewardship projects offer a hands-on way to protect local habitats and preserve the beauty of the Hill Country.

From our annual gala and summer Moondance Concert Series to our weekly Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, volunteers help with setup and breakdown, greet guests, and are essential to helping create welcoming, memorable experiences. Perfect for those who enjoy a lively, people-centered environment.

Our education volunteers help guide student field trips through hands-on activities exploring wildlife and environmental science, creating fun and engaging learning experiences for our young nature lovers. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please click the registration button at the top of this page to create a Better Impact account and sign up for volunteer shifts. We’re here to help if you have any questions: volunteer@cibolo.org.

  • Absolutely! Please email volunteer@cibolo.org and we will send a copy of your hours and help you with any documentation you need.

  • No experience is necessary! We provide guidance and training for all tasks.

  • Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult unless participating with an organized group.

  • Some projects continue in light rain, but severe weather may result in cancellation. We’ll notify you via email if plans change.

  • Yes! We welcome school groups, corporate teams, and community organizations. Please contact us in advance to schedule.

  • Tasks may include trail maintenance, gardening, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, or supporting events.

  • Bring a reusable water bottle. We’ll provide tools and gloves unless otherwise noted.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty, along with sun protection (hat, sunscreen).
